to

Admission Notification to the Post Graduate Level Program of
the SINDHU CENTRAL UNIVERSITY


This is issued in continuation of the Admission Notice vide Advt. No. SCU 001/2023 (001), in regard to Admissions for PG Programs of the University.

The revised schedule for the Admission Notification is as follows:

Important dates:

Last date of application: June 30th, 2023
Interviews between: July 5th to July 10th, 2023 (exact dates to be announced subsequently)
Release of admission letter: July 14th, 2023
Reporting at respective IIT campuses: by July 28th, 2023, before 10 a.m.
Institute Orientation: July 28th, 2023

Important Note

(Read the below important instruction before applying for Post Graduate level programs.)

 

The Sindhu Central University is established by the Central Universities (Amendment) Act 2021 and the parliament has assented to the establishment of the University with the territorial jurisdiction of the UT of Ladakh. The University is fully funded and supported by the Govt. of India through the Ministry of Education.

Online Applications are invited from the eligible students for the following Post Graduate level programs (full- time 2-years) at the Sindhu Central University.

(a) Master of Technology (M.Tech.) - Atmospheric & Climate Sciences
(b) Master of Technology (M.Tech.)- Energy Technology& Policy
(c) Master of Arts (M.A.) - Public Policy

The first batch of students selected for the above programs of study will undergo their classes and laboratory courses at IIT Madras,for (a) and (c), and IIT Kanpur for program (b) given above.

1.0 Educational Qualifications for Admission to the prescribed PG Programs

(a) M.Tech. Atmospheric and Climate Sciences
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or Technology in Automobile, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Energy, Instrumentations, Materials, Mechanical, Production, and other branches of Engineering or similar discipline or M.Sc./M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science(s), Atmospheric Science(s) or equivalent subject with a minimum of 55% in aggregate (or) 5.5 or above CGPA (on a scale of 10). Students in the final year are also eligible to apply. However, at the time of admission students shall have passed the above educational qualifications.

(b) M.Tech. Energy Technology and Policy
Bachelor's degree in Engineeringand/or Technology in Automobile, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics, Energy, Instrumentations, Materials, Mechanical, Production, and other branches of Engineering or equivalent subject or M.Sc./M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, or equivalent subject with a minimum of 55% in aggregate (or) 5.5 or above CGPA (on a scale of 10). Students in the final year are also eligible to apply. However, at the time of admission students shall have passed the above educational qualifications.

(c) M.A. Public Policy
A candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate. The candidate should have Mathematics as one of the subjects at the level of class XII.

2.0 General Eligibility for Admission and Reservation of Seats

The "specified minimum" marks/CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average), referred to in subsequent sections, implies a minimum of 55% marks/5.5 (on a 10-point scale) if it is not less than the minimum pass marks/CGPA; otherwise, the "specified minimum" marks/CGPA implies the minimum pass marks/CGPA.

Applicants having qualifications equivalent to the ones stated above may also apply for admission to the appropriate programs of study.

The total number of seats available for each of the programs is 20. The University shall have the flexibility to increase the number of seats based on the requirements and policy of the Ministry of Education for the first year.

Reservation of seats for various reserved categories shall be as prescribed as per the University rules and follow the Govt. of India notifications.

Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, OBC-NCL, EWS, and PWDwill have the minimum cut-off marks for eligibility as per Gov rules.

3.0 Admission Procedure

The applicants must apply for admission on prescribed forms (online). Any queries (if any) may be sent directly to the contact person given in the advertisement.

All eligible applications will be reviewedbased on eligibility criteria mentioned in the adverstisement. Selection process will also consider a valid score in any of the national level qualifying examinations, like GATE, CEED, JAM, CUET (PG) etc. It may be noted that having qualified in any of the national examinations with a valid score is desirable, however the same is not mandatory requirement for application submission and selection.

All shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview (on or off-line), and the performance in the interview shall also form the basis of the final selection.

A candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/EWS category will be entitled to a relaxation in the qualifying marks in admission process in accordance with the Government notifications.

The University authorities shall have the option to exercise the powers following such regulations in relaxing or otherwise during the entire process, which are final and binding.

Q1 : What is the office location in Ladakh?

Answer : The parliament has assented to the establishment of the University with the territorial jurisdiction of the UT of Ladakh. The first batch of students will undergo their classes and laboratory courses at IIT Madras, for Master of Technology (MTech.) - Atmospheric & Climate Sciences and Master of Arts (M.A.) - Public Policy, and IIT Kanpur for Master of Technology (MTech.)- Energy Technology& Policy. At present, EdCIL is acting as a project manager on the directions of the Executive Council of Sindhu Central University. The Transit Campus is under establishment at Village Khaltsi, District Leh in UT of Ladakh. For any queries the email id given in the press advertisement holds good.


Q2 : How to access the website?

Answer : For the Online Application Form, candidates can visit https://sindhucu.edcil.co.in/. The website of Sindhu Central University viz. www.sindhucu.ac.in is under development and shall be live shortly.


Q3 : In case of an invalid GATE score, can a candidate still apply?

Answer : GATE is not mandatory for admission. Kindly refer to the information given in the admission portal, which is self-explanatory.


Q4 : What to do in case pdf or jpeg format files not getting accepted on the admission portal?

Answer : Files with .jpeg and .png extensions are accepted on the admission portal.


Q5 : Can a candidate apply for more than one course?

Answer : There is no restriction on the number of courses a candidate can apply for. However, the contact details of the candidate have to be different for successful application submission.


Q6 : Will the students be shifted to SCU or the entire course will be at IITs?

Answer : Kindly refer to the press advertisement. The information is self-explanatory.


Q7 : Will the degree be awarded in collaboration with SCU, IIT Madras, and IIT Kanpur, or just SCU?

Answer : The degree will be awarded by Sindhu Central University.


Q8 : What is the syllabus for the entrance exam?

Answer : There is no entrance exam for the first batch. For further details kindly refer to the admission notice.


Q9 : Is there any correction window for incorrect online form submission?

Answer : The correction window is not available. Students shall be responsible for their careful action regarding the submission of details and attachments. However, students can submit a second application with different contact details.


Q10 : What is the fee structure of the courses?

Answer : The Fee structure shall be in line with the fee structure for the leading Central Universities in India. The final fee structure shall be intimated shortly.


Q11 : What is the course curriculum?

Answer : The course curriculum shall be available on the admission portal shortly.


Q12 : Is there any sponsorship involved?

Answer : Sponsorship is not available. However, students will be entitled to a stipend as per university norms.


Q13 : Is the fee structure semester-wise?

Answer : The fee structure will be uploaded soon on the portal.


Q14 : What are the hostel fees/Tuition Fees and what shall be the hostel facilities?

Answer : The Fee structure shall be in line with the fee structure at leading central universities in India. The final fee structure shall be intimated shortly.


Q15 : Are courses like Cyber Security and AI among the courses being taught?

Answer : The course curriculum shall be available on the admission portal shortly.


Q16 : What are the eligibility criteria?

Q18 : Will financial assistance of 12400 be provided for GATE-qualified students?

Answer : Students will be entitled to a stipend as per university norms.

Answer : Students will have access to various training provided to the other IIT students. However, a placement cell for the university shall be created separately.

Q21 : Is there any kind of monthly stipend for the courses?

Answer : Students will be entitled to a stipend as per university norms.


Q22 : What are the future benefits of these courses?

Answer : The courses are very contextual and are running successfully in IITs and other leading educational institutes. Students are getting placements in related companies.


Q23 : Will the course run online or offline?

Answer : The courses shall run offline. The first batch of students will undergo their classes and laboratory courses at IIT Madras, for Master of Technology (MTech.) - Atmospheric & Climate Sciences and Master of Arts (M.A.) - Public Policy, and IIT Kanpur for Master of Technology (MTech.)- Energy Technology& Policy. However, IITs may adopt their best practices.


Q24 : What teaching pedagogies shall be adopted?

Answer : This will be as per standard teaching practices.


Q25 : Are the courses open to all citizens of India or is specific for candidates from Ladakh?

Answer : The courses are open to all the citizens of India.


Q26 : Is there any upper age limit to apply for the courses?

Answer : There is no upper age limit to apply for the courses.


Q27 : Are the courses full-time residential courses?

Answer : Yes, the students will be given the option of taking accommodation by the respective IITs.


Q28 : What is the course of action in case of inability to log in after entering the correct details?

Answer : The students can attempt to log in again. The portal is found to be working in order.


Q29 : Will the students stay at SCU, Ladakh?

Answer : For the first batch, at respective IITs, in person. Hostel facilities are provided in the respective IITs.
